Stanley Blair Sutton, age 85, of Archer, passed away at his home Wednesday, June 6, 2018.
Stan was born April 16, 1933 in Archer a son to Henry Lillis Sutton and Rachel Briggs Sutton. He went to Archer Grade School for eight years, graduated from Madison High School and attended Ricks College, where he played basketball. He was drafted in 1955 and served two years in the Honor Guard back at Arlington Cemetery.
He married Bette Pauline Lindstrom January 25, 1963 in Archer, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple June 14, 1967.
He has received many service awards: Outstanding agriculturist from the Chamber of Commerce in 1980, Madison School District Dedicated Public Service Award as a board member for 9 years and chairman for 3, Idaho Water Users Association Water Guardian Award 1999, and the Idaho Century Farm Award for 100 years of Sutton Family Farming. The Sutton family was presented the Pioneer Family of the Year award from the Upper Valley Historical Society in 2000. He has been president of the Sunnydell Irrigation District and also the Secretary of the Sutton Cemetery District.
Survivors include: his wife Pauline Sutton of Archer, a daughter, Sindy (Jeff) Jensen of Rexburg, a daughter-in-law Susie Sutton of Archer, a son Kirt (Lori) Sutton of Rexburg, a sister Genevieve Heath of Salt Lake City, Utah, 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Lillis and Rachel Sutton, a brother Jesse Sutton, 4 sisters; Zella Bybee, Laura Hope, Carol Robison and Ada Lou Howell and his son Bret Sutton.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Archer LSD Church, 201 West 8000 South, Rexburg, Idaho 83440. The family will visit with friends at the Archer Ward LDS Church, Friday June 8, 2018 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
