Sterling (Bud) Alva Murdock, 81, of Terreton, Idaho died Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at his home.
He was born September 16, 1924 in Sugar City, Idaho the son of Sterling Andrew Murdock Sr. and Lorena Ellsworth Murdock.
He attended schools in Sugar City and Driggs and graduated from Teton High School in 1942. He lived with his family in Bates west of Driggs, Idaho. When he was eight years old he started working as a “camp jack” cooking and running errands for the sheep herders and his father and uncles in their sheep business.
In 1945 he married Lorraine Palmer. In 1952 they moved from Driggs to Terreton, Idaho. In 1957 Lorraine died. On February 14, 1958 he married Yvonne Williams in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
In 1944 during WWII he was drafted into the Army where he served two years in the Phillipines. He was a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Verle Skidmore Post in Terreton, Idaho.
He was a member of the Hamer Lions Club and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as a Stake High Councilman, Home Teacher, a counselor in the Young Men’s Stake Presidency, Hamer Ward Clerk and for many years a Scout Master. He was awarded the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award for his years of service.
He loved to rock his grandchildren in his easy rocker, go hunting and fishing and visiting with neighbors.
He is survived by his wife Yvonne Murdock of Terreton, Idaho. Two daughters, Shelma (Kent) Miskin and Janice (Kirt) Williams both of Terreton, Idaho. Five sons; Dale Murdock of Terreton, Idaho, Mark (Michelle) Murdock of Terreton, Idaho, Craig (Kellie) Murdock of Terreton, Idaho, Terry (Rona) Murdock of Ucon , Idaho and Dan (Karen) Murdock of Pinedale, Wyoming. Six sisters; Jean (Russell) Nash of Blackfoot, Idaho, Ruth (Leland) Thompson of Driggs, Idaho, Ann (Darwin) Thompson of Salmon, Idaho, Donna (Lamar) Thompson of Victor, Idaho, Lorena Mae (Richard) Whiting of Victor, Idaho and Marva (Philip) Condie of St. George, Utah. A brother, Lorin (Dorothy) Murdock of Paris, Texas. Thirty-one grandchildren and thirty-three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Lorraine Palmer Murdock, a grandson, Ryan Miskin and two brothers, Lyle Murdock and Grant Murdock.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 1:00 pm. in the Terreton LDS Stake Center in Terreton, Idaho. The family will meet with friends at the Terreton Stake Center on both Friday, March 17, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, March 18, 2006 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment will be in the West Jefferson Memorial Cemetery.
