As a family we would like to pay tribute to our Dad, Husband, Son, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and Friend. Steve Burtenshaw was born on December 23, 1954 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Don and Beverly Burtenshaw. Steve was the second of eight children. Brothers are Mike (Kay), Lynn (Kaylene), Van (Jean), David (Holly) and Lee (Lori). Sisters are Sharon and Annette (Mitch).
Steve was raised in Terreton and went to school at West Jefferson High School. He was active in football, rodeo, track and basketball. He married the love of his life, Shelli Sanders on March 15, 1973 and on January 24, 1998 their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. His wife and best friend of 31 years together had five children. First and oldest is Lanny and his wife Jimi who’s children are James, Bridger and Dylan. Next are Heidi and her children Danielle, McKenzie, Brodi and Janaye. In the Middle are Aubrey and her husband Shawn and their two children, Creed and Taya. Next are Ben and Tara and youngest Brock. His grandchildren had such a special place in his heart and they loved him and will miss him very much.
Steve spent many years as an advisor in the high school rodeo club, served on the Jefferson County FSA committee, was Mud Lake Fairboard Rodeo Chairman for ten years and was LDS Stake Rodeo Chairman for years. He was a primary teacher and scout leader.
He was a great asset to the community. He was always there to help when help was needed. He gave freely of his time and money. Steve was a very loving and compassionate man who’s family was the very most important thing in his life. He was a very hard worker who enjoyed farming, ranching and trading cattle. He had such an eye for cattle. He was a friend to everyone and was the type of person everyone wanted to be around. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh and had a special knack for making people feel important.
We will always remember his big smile and distinctive laugh. He loved to fish, hunt, snowmobile, ski, boat or anything that had to do with being outdoors or adventurous, but most of all he enjoyed being with family and friends.
It has been a privilege and honor to have as the head of our family. We love him and he will be deeply missed. We will always carry him in our hearts.
WE LOVE YOU!
