Steven Read Case 62, of Rigby, Idaho and formerly of Orlando, Florida passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Steven was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 17, 1959, the son of Compton Read Case and Julia Weddell Case. His family moved to Orlando, Florida when he was young. He graduated from Boone High School in Orlando and continued his education earning an Associate’s Degree at Valencia College.
Steven served in the United States Army with the Military Police Corps.
On November 27, 1999 Steven married Sarah Marie Everett. With that marriage he gained two sons to which he was very proud. He was introduced to the Boys Scouts of America program through his future brother-in-law, John Voelpel. That is where he met Sarah. She was also a volunteer with the local Boy Scouts of America. They found a love for working in the scouting program. He attended Wood Badge training where he was a member of the Buffalo Patrol, and was a vigil member of The Order of The Arrow. He made a full authentic ceremonial Lakota Indian regalia that he used for cross over and eagle award ceremonies. He learned how to play the Native American flute and collected many types that he would often play. His Indian name was Titonka-Ta-Te (Buffalo Wind). He was the recipient of the Silver Buffalo Award for his service to the youth in the Boy Scouts of America.
Steven worked as a Metrology Engineer in quality control for Lockheed Martin and at Qual-Test in Orlando. His responsibility was to find and record the control parameters on products.
Steven liked to vacation in Idaho with his wife. They decided to move to Rigby, Idaho as part of their retirement. Hiking, fishing and camping were some of the pleasures that he enjoyed, especially in Idaho. He found himself a nice home in Rigby with a shop where he set up a woodworking area. He was a great woodworker. With his knowledge of tools, he took a job at Lowe’s where he was able to talk to everyone and made numerous friends.
Steven is survived by his wife; Sarah, and sons, Brandon Everett and Timothy (Angela) Everett. He is also survived by a sister, Pattie (John) Voelpel.
He was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Case.
Steven’s family are grateful to all those who have stopped by or called with their condolences. At this time a service is not planned, but will be announced at a later date.
