Rigby

Suzanne Powell Woods, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away peacefully in her home on December 12, 2025, while surrounded by her family. She was born on May 2, 1957, in St. Anthony, Idaho, to Virgil “Bud” Powell and Merlyn Rich Powell.

Suzanne married the love of her life, Wesley Dean Woods, on May 30, 1975, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they began their life in the small town of Rigby, where they welcomed their four children: Brandon, Kendall, Sheena, and Eric. In 1994, they moved just outside of town along the dry bed, where they built their dream home, a place filled with warmth, family, and countless memories.

Suzanne worked for Kent Arnold at Arnold Press in Rexburg and for the City of Rigby, where she made history as the first female city council member. She went on to serve as a secretary for Jefferson School District #251, retiring in August 2020. Her dedication, kindness, and steady presence touched many throughout her career.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Suzanne loved serving in her many callings. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and she enjoyed chasing all her children and grandchildren across several states as they participated in many different activities. Suzanne cherished time spent working in her yard, going on walks, camping, enjoying side-by-side rides, and singing—simple joys that reflected her love of life and the people around her.

Suzanne is survived by her husband, Wesley Woods; her children Brandon Woods, Sheena and Derek Cox, and Eric and Emily Woods; her siblings and in-laws Corrine Powell, Vickie Smith, Rich Powell, Kara Davis, Lynn and Pam Powell, Gina and Gerald Humphries, Peggy Hanny, Rick and Sherry Woods, and Kathy Woods Wheeler; along with nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil (Bud) and Merlyn Powell; In-Laws, Dean and Faye Woods; her brother, Wylie Powell; sisters-in-law, Terri Powell and Kris Powell; brother-in-law, Mark Davis; her son, Kendall Dean Woods; and her grandson, Kellen Derek Cox.

The family will welcome friends on Monday, December 15th, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, December 16th from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. at the Rigby Stake Center, 258 W 1st N in Rigby., with graveside services at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery to follow. A Celebration of Life will then be held on Tuesday at her home at 1:00 p.m.
