Owen Terrel Larson, 76, of Roberts, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
He was born September 2, 1939 in Driggs, Idaho to Owen Wallace Larson and Ella Maxine Beard Larson. He was raised and attended schools in Teton Valley, graduating from Teton High School. He continued his education at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho and B.Y.U. in Provo, Utah. He served in the National Guard from 1956 to 1961 during the Berlin Crisis. On September 8, 1961, he married Lois Jeanne Hillman, his eternal sweetheart in Driggs, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple October 5, 1965. Terry and Jeanne were blessed with 10 children.
Terry worked for School District #251 teaching 5th grade in Roberts for 37 years. He was also an assistant manager at Broulim’s Food Store in Roberts and he worked as a butcher in Rexburg for Cold Storage.
Terry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; he served faithfully in many capacities including bishop, ward mission leader, high priest group leader, on the high council. He participated in boxing during high school, enjoyed gardening, raspberries, science, guitar and teaching the recorder. He loved to do genealogy, Friday lunches, going on drives in the Fall with his wife and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Larson, of Roberts, daughters, Julie Rae (Mark) Osborne, of Bluffdale, Utah, Wendy Sue (Tyrell) Thomas, of Pingree, Idaho, Jody Ann (Glenn) Walker, of Rigby, Idaho, Heidi Lyn (Jared) Sloan, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Necia Dawn (Heber) Rasmussen, of Rigby, sons, Eric Terrel (Tiffany) Larson, of Rigby, Adam Wendell (Monica) Larson, of Snoqualmie, Washington, Elder Zach Sloan, serving in The Jackson, Mississippi Mission, Elder Brady Sloan, serving in The Columbus, Ohio Mission. Brothers, Zane William (Marilyn) Larson, of Ashton, Idaho, Craig Wallace (Irene) Larson, of Tetonia, Idaho, brother-in-law, Clair Hillman, of Driggs, Idaho, sister-in-law, Chloe Ross, of Glendale, California, 21 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Maxine Larson, his mother and father-in-law, Wendell and Mildred Hillman, and a daughter, Jill Lois Larson Sloan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Roberts 1st Ward LDS Chapel, (663 N. 2858 E. Roberts) with Bishop John Young, conducting. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Friday, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Cache-Clawson Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
