Terry Albert Peterson

Terry Albert Peterson, age 91, of Rigby, died Friday, January 16, 2009, at The Gables of Ammon. Terry was born February 10, 1917 in Hyrum, Utah to Ray Andrew Peterson and Sylvia Floss Allen Peterson. He was raised and attended schools in Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School and Ricks College. On January 29, 1941, he married Letha Hall Burns in Logan, Utah LDS Temple. He was a carpenter all his life and was know for being a master craftsman and for his excellent workmanship in the beautiful homes, churches, and cabins he built. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Branch President, High Priest Group Leader, Sunday school superintendent, Stake athletic Director, coached softball and basketball, home teacher, and served a 2 year service mission with his wife building a church in Spokane, Washington. He was well known for his kindness, honesty, humility, sense of humor, and work ethic, and loved sports, fishing, hunting, family, church, work, fellowman, and always enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: three daughters; Bonnie (Larry) Olson of Rigby, Vicki (Dwain) Helsing of Rigby and Nikki (Kevin) Virgin of Sugar City, Idaho, two sons; Paul (Tami) Peterson and Lane (Joy) Peterson of Rigby; two brothers Fay (Verna) Peterson and Wayne (Marlene) Peterson of Idaho Falls; 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Terry was preceded in death by his wife Letha Hall Burns, his parents, three brothers, one sister, and two grandsons. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rigby Stake Center, 258 West 1st North. The family will visit with friends on Monday, January 19, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
