Tessie Ardell Whittaker, age 87, of LaGrande, OR. formerly of Ucon Idaho, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 in LaGrande, OR. She was born June 15, 1920 in Drummond, Idaho, a daughter of Ezra Roy Krupp and Inez Blanche Hall. She attended schools in Lorenzo, Midway High School near Menan, and Rigby High School. On May 9, 1939, she married George Frampton Whittaker. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Tessie was a Homemaker and also worked for Kress Varity Store in Idaho Falls, Sprouse Reitz, Penny’s Department Store, Rigby Maternity Home in Rigby for 3 years, Idaho Potato Growers, Frenches, and Idaho Fresh Pak. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Sunday School Coordinator and a Relief Society spiritual living teacher for 8 years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by a sister Kay (Douglas) Dick, of LaGrande Oregon.
She is preceded in death by her Husband George F. Whittaker, one sister Zita Duerr and two Brothers Gene and Ira John.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon, Monday, April 14, 2008 at the Ucon Stake Center, 2967 East 105 North. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, April 13, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and before the services at the Stake Center on Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Internment will be at Sutton Cemetery, Archer, Idaho. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude or any Charity of your Choice.
