Thomas Roy Kellom, 65 of Dubois, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013.
He was born December 31, 1947, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Glenn Kellom and Carol Koch Kellom; he was their 1st and only boy. He was raised and attended schools in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, including the one-room Boomer School in his youth. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School and continued his education at The University of Wisconsin, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science.
In 1970 he was drafted into the US Army and served honorably during the Vietnam Era. In 1974 he moved to Idaho and was employed at the US Sheep Experiment Station. On June 18, 1977 he married Millie Marie Hartwell in Dubois. In 2006 he retired from the USDA; his retirement years have been largely spent at his wife Marie’s family ranch in Monteview where he has never been happier. Faithful in marriage, side-by-side with wife Marie growing only closer as the years went by.
Tom served as Secretary/Treasurer for American Legion Post 28 for over 20 years, participating in Military Rites at countless Veterans Funerals, he also placed flags thru-out town at Dubois during all holidays. Tom was an outstanding father to his three children, putting their needs before his, always. His favorite pastime was fishing followed closely by being outdoors and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Hartwell Kellom, of Dubois, daughters, Melissa (Steve) Kellom, of Round Lake, Illinois, Sarah Kellom, of Idaho Falls, son, Andrew “Andy” (Alison) Kellom, of Hobson, Montana, sisters, Phyllis (James A.) Ryan, of Lacey, Washington, Nancy (Steve) Wolfram, of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Debbie (Bill) Fritch, of Madison, Wisconsin, Marybeth Kellom, of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and three grandchildren, Jacob, Taylor and Logan.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, with Pastor Brian Gomez, officiating. The family will receive friends from7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Jefferson Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
