Thora French

Thora Hall Belnap French, 93, of Roberts, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2008 at Rexburg Nursing Home of causes incident to age. She was born March 12, 1915 in Hooper, Utah to George Ellis Belnap and Mabel Hall Belnap. She attended elementary school in Burton, ID. The family then moved to Rigby where she attended eight grade, they then moved to Roberts where she graduated from Roberts High School. On May 20, 1933 she married Charles Thomas French; they made their home in Roberts and were married for over fifty years at the time of his death. Thora did many things in her life; she was a mail carrier, telephone operator, school librarian, substitute teacher, music teacher, and secretary/bookkeeper. She was active in the LDS Church and was Relief Society President, Young Women’s President, Ward Chorister, and Ward Organist. She served as President of the Robert Senior Citizens Association. She spent her spare time in service to others playing for over one hundred weddings and funerals and accompanying anyone who needed her services. She is survived by her five children, LaMar (Marilyn) French, of Emily, Minnesota, Marlene (Don) Rasmussen of Rexburg, Robert French of Roberts, Gene (Re’Nae) French, of Grant, and Reynold (Alisha) French, of Twin Falls, two sisters, Iola Murry, of West Point, UT, Audrey Hobson, of Hayburn, ID, three brothers, LaGrande Belnap of Hooper, UT, Linden Belnap, of South Ogden, UT, Darwin Belnap, of Ogden, UT, Frances “Bud” Belnap of Layton, UT, twenty-seven grandchildren, seventy-seven great grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 27, 2008 at Roberts LDS Chapel, with Bishop Tim Allen, conducting. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, both at the church. Burial will be in Market Lake Cemetery, in Roberts, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel.
