Thurza Poole

Thurza Cherry Poole 84, of Menan, Idaho died Friday, January 14, 2005 at the Life Care center in Idaho Falls. Thurza was born on January 8, 1921 in Menan, Idaho a daughter of George Aaron Cherry and Ada Lawson Cherry. She was raised and attended school at Menan and graduated from Midway High School. Thurza worked at the JL Hayes grocery store in Menan before she was married. Thurza married Leslie Wayne Poole on September 11, 1941 in Menan, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple on February 10, 1955. Thurza was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a Primary Teacher, a counselor in the Relief Society and as Relief Society president. Thurza was a member of the Rigby Study Club and the EE-Da-How Pinochle club. Thurza loved her family and enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers. Survivors include, two daughters, Janice Rae Poole of Lava Hot Springs, Thurza Lee (Kim) Gordon of Spanish Fork, Utah, Seven sons, Roger (Kathy) Poole of Menan, Sidney (Barbara) Poole of Swan Valley, Corey (Kim) Poole, Jeffery (Sheryl) Poole, John (Kathy Jo) Poole, Rodney (Earlene) Poole, and Robert (Colleen) Poole all of Menan. One sister Ellen Clement of Lewisville. 28 Grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Thurza was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leslie Wayne, one son Leslie D., one grandson, and one brother Ray Cherry. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Menan II Ward L.D.S. Chapel with Bishop Eric Beck conducting. The family will meet with friends on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at the Menan Church from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. and prior to the services on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow the services at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
