Valden L. Rosenberg

Valden L. Rosenberg, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, age 74, left this mortal life from complications of leukemia June 28, 2018, surrounded by his family at his home in Lewisville, Idaho.

Val was born April 1, 1944 in Salina, Utah, the only son of Brigham LaVar Rosenberg and Mary Elizabeth Eichmeier Rosenberg.  He grew up and attended schools In Centerfield, Utah and Osgood, Idaho. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1962, and obtained a Bachelor’s degree at BYU.

He married Judy Passey September 13, 1968 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.  He served a mission to South East Mexico where he learned to love the Mexican people. He also served at the Pentagon in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served many callings in the church including Bishop’s counselor, High Councilman, Young Men’s President, Ward Mission Leader and Sunday School Teacher.  His favorite calling was as bishop in Lewisville First Ward. He loved serving his ward members and was loved by all.

He grew up on a farm in Osgood and was a farm boy through and through. He had a great love of horses and spent many hours riding.  He loved floating the Snake River and organized many float trips with family and friends.  He knew every bend and set of rapids on the river. His career path included finance and insurance sales and pioneering hydroponic greenhouse tomatoes. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Everyone enjoyed his great sense of humor. He was born on April Fool’s Day, married on Friday the 13 ^th and ordained a bishop on Halloween. Thus was his life.

Val left a remarkable legacy.  He and his wife Judy, raised eight beautiful children who have given them 30 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Val will be greatly missed by his wife, three daughters: Kristen (Jody) Bilstad of Missoula, Montana, Katie (Brent) Ellsworth of Rigby Idaho, Angie (Matt) DeGraw of Rigby Idaho and his five sons: Jeffrey (Becky) Rosenberg of Smoot, Wyoming, Brandon (Aimee) Rosenberg of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Mike (Maria) Rosenberg of Yamhill, Oregon, Matt (Emmy) Rosenberg of Lewisville, Idaho and Jon (Amanda) Rosenberg of Idaho Falls, Idaho. His grandchildren and great grandchildren will also miss him dearly.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 3 ^rd , 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lewisville 1 ^st Ward LDS Chapel. The family will visit with friends Monday at the Lewisville LDS Church from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Tuesday before the service from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.  Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery.
