Vearl Lavar Hansen

Vearl LaVar Hansen, 79 of Burton passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 at Madison Memorial Hospital. He was born March 26, 1935 in Independence, Idaho to Nels Christain Hansen and Molly Bischoff Hansen. He was raised and attended schools in Rexburg, graduating from Madison High School. While in high school, he was the President of the FFA. On September 16, 1955, he married Loa Lee in Hibbard, Idaho; they were blessed with 4 sons. Vearl was a licensed electrical contractor and was also licensed in various other industrial trades. He worked for Gem Air Craft as a machine tool operator in Rexburg, at Argonne National Laboratory as an electrician for over 25 years, he was a project supervisor in California for 7 years and he worked as the plant electrician for Basic American Foods for over 20 years, retiring in 2013 at age 77. Vearl was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed traveling, car shows, woodworking, farmers markets, riding snow machines and 4-wheelers; he was also a licensed pilot. He is survived by his sons; Clinton Lee (Jeanine) Hansen, of Hibbard, Christopher LaVar Hansen, Clifford Vearl Hansen, Clark Kay (Joyce) Hansen, all of Burton, sister, Marilyn Hansen Clements, of Burton, brother, Keith L. (Belva) Hansen, of Burton, grandchildren, Paige Hansen, Kendra Wilcox, Brach Hansen, Morgan Hansen, and Seth Rutledge. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Loa Lee Hansen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Burton West LDS Chapel, 3958 W. 2000 S., Rexburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday evening and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services both at the church. Burial will be in the Burton Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
