Veda Shippen Call
Veda Shippen Call, peacefully passed from this life surrounded by her children on the evening of May 6, 2004, in Fresno, Ca.. Veda was born Mar. 11, 1929, to Thomas C & Cora Boyce Shippen in Menan, Idaho. She grew up in Lewisville, where she attended elementary school. She graduated from Midway High School and spent a year at Brigham Young University. She married Dean P. Call in the Idaho Falls Temple on Dec. 8, 1950. They were later divorced. She spent the last 39 years in San Jose, Ca., where she became one of the top selling real estate agents in the Santa Clara Valley. She earned 3 highly coveted awards from the San Jose Real Estate Board, and well over 100 awards from the different companies she worked for. She became a noted teacher and lecturer in the Real Estate field. She loved poetry and wrote many poems for friends and family on their special occasions. Along with her sisters, she organized and held a yearly, week long family reunion for over 25 years. They were always a resounding success. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she held many positions. Her greatest love was her family, both children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers and sisters and their children. She was devoted to their cause and gave of her means and time to bring them joy and happiness. She will be greatly missed by all those who were lucky enough to have known her. She is survived by her children, David, Brenda, Marnee', John, Maryanne, James, Deanna and Portia, 32 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, Grant (Margie) Shippen, Paul (Lola) Shippen, Ben (Joan) Shippen, her twin, Vera Shippen and Naomi Bushell. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Reed and Walter, and 1 sister, Ruth.
Graveside services will be held Monday, May17, 2004 at 12:00 Noon in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at Eckersell Memorial Chapel (101 W. Main, Rigby, Idaho) from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to the graveside service.
