Velda Carrie Meyerhoffer, 93, of Idaho Falls, died at the Good Samaritan center in Idaho Falls, Sunday January 2, 2005. Velda was born October 28, 1911, at Rigby, a daughter of Olof Jensen and Carrie Alzina Ball Jensen. She attended schools in Rigby graduating from Rigby High School. She married Roy Meyerhoffer June 30, 1930 in Rigby. She and her husband moved to California in 1937. She worked as a dental assistant in Arcata and Eureka, California. She moved to Idaho Falls in 1989. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a beautiful seamstress and enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. She is survived by 3 daughters: Deon (Charles) Kelly of Sacramento, California, Joan Hurst of Walnut Creek, California and Joyce Soulis of Idaho Falls; one brother Jerry O. (Enid) Jensen of Rigby; 9 grandchildren: Sean (Linda) Kelly, Constance (David) Hall, Daniel Kelly, Kevin Kelly, Erin (Conrad) Stanley, John (Doreen) Hurst, Ronald (Terry) Hurst, Richard Hurst, Rourke (Anita) Soulis; 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, other family members Mary Hurst, Sherry Soulis and Lisa Kelly. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters: Alta May Parkinson and Edna Blanche Hayes and one brother Arden James Jensen.
Funeral Services will be held Friday January 7, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, January 6, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
