Velma Saxton Gregersen, age 91, peacefully slipped away in her sleep on March 13, 2025, in Rigby, Idaho, surrounded by angels, family, and friends.

Velma was born on September 4, 1933, in Ogden, Utah, to Phillip Richard Saxton and Mary Natella Polson. She was the seventh of ten children, growing up in a lively household that shaped who she became. Velma grew up with a love for learning and beauty, later attending Vogue Beauty School. She spent many years working as a cashier in a casino, where she made lasting friendships and touched many lives with her warmth and kindness.

Velma's greatest joy in life was her family. She had one daughter, Debra, who was not only her child but also her best friend. Together, they shared a deep bond, creating countless cherished memories. Through Debra, Velma was blessed with two granddaughters, Ami, and Stephanie, and a grandson Jonathan leading to a legacy of seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Velma found great peace in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she diligently studied the scriptures every day, a practice she continued until the week of her passing.

After experiencing a few trials in love, Velma was blessed to find her eternal companion, Max Gregersen, in 2015. On July 31, 2015, they were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Jordan River Temple. Through this union, Velma's long-held dream of having a large family came true. Max brought 11 children,

73 grandchildren, 122 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren into her life, and she embraced them all with love.

Though our hearts ache with her passing, we find comfort in knowing that Velma is at peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. Her love, faith, and adventurous spirit will forever be cherished by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held in her honor on March 19th, at the Rigby Stake Center, 101 W Main St. Rigby Idaho with a viewing at 9:45 prior to the 11:00 funeral service. She will be laid to rest in Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.

Velma is survived by her 3 grandchildren, Ami Olsen (Eric), Jonathon Vietti (Michele), and Stephanie Clark (Zachary), her 7 great grandchildren, Stacia, Alex, Donny, Abriana, Serenity, Makayla, and Taylor and 3 great great grandchildren Emma Jo, Tommy, and Hudson.  Max’s children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren who she lovingly accepted like her own.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Max Gregersen, Daughter Debra Lee Blank, six sisters and 1 brother.

We invite all who loved Velma to join us in celebrating her beautiful life.
