Velma E. Taylor, 82, of Rigby, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Rexburg Care and Rehab.
She was born November 27, 1929, in Rigby, to Isreal James Purser and Bertha Fern Rolfe Purser. She was raised and attended schools in Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School. On November 14, 1947, she married Lorin John Taylor.
Velma is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and a member of The Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, rock hounding, and crocheting. She especially loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Harold) Christiansen, of Shelley, sisters; Velta Sharp, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Glenda Hendricks, of Portland, Oregon, brother; Darold (Joy) Purser, of Quartzsite, Arizona, 5 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter; Susan, son; Reynold, grandson; Robert, 3 brothers and 7 sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, prior to services at the cemetery.
