Veona Rae Benson

Veona Rae Benson, 84, of Thornton, passed away at her home Sunday, December 27, 2015. Veona was born February 21. 1931 in Thornton, Idaho a daughter to Reno L. Anderson and Lillian Rose Lyman Anderson. She grew up and attended schools in Thornton and graduated from Madison High School. She married Marvis Conrad Benson, January 3, 1950 in the Bonneville County Courthouse. She worked at a waitress for Walkers Café in Rigby. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Veona enjoyed quilting, gardening, hunting and camping. Survivors include two daughters: Kathryn S. Fyfe and Wendy Greer both of Thornton, two sons: Don R. (Cathy) Benson and Tony C. Benson both of Idaho Falls, one sister Sharon Archibald of Sugar City, three brothers: Lanny (Afton) Anderson of Thornton, Jackie Anderson of Inkom and Jimmy (Kathy) Anderson of Rigby, 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Conrad, a sister Dorrel Jonston, a brother Darwin “Duke” Anderson and a grandson Mikael L. Fyfe. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel (101 West Main Street, Rigby). The family will visit with friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, December 30, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday December 31, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
