Vera Archibald

VERA ARCHIBALD, age 82, of Rigby, died at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Monday, January 17, 2005. Vera was born August 17, 1922, in Rexburg, Idaho daughter of David Heber Manwaring and Sarah Zella Hart Manwaring. She was raised and attended school in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School. She continued her education at Ricks College. Vera married Don Carlos Archibald June 9, 1942 in the Salt Lake City L.D.S. Temple. Vera was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a Relief Society President, a primary teacher and wrote a comprehensive history of the Rigby 2nd Ward. Vera was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved and enjoyed being with her family. She loved planning and enjoying family reunions at the cabin. Vera was a member of the Rigby Study Club and sang with the Chansonettes. Vera was a gifted poet and enjoyed handiwork, especially needlepoint, quilting, music and playing the piano. Vera is survived by seven children, D. Gary (Tricia) Archibald of Rexburg, Idaho Lynn D. (Barbara) Archibald of Rexburg, Kent M. (Elaine) Archibald of Rexburg, Valene Archibald of Salt Lake City, Utah, RaNae (Vondell) Balls of Shelton, Idaho, Kirk B. (Dawn) Archibald of Orem, Utah, Kathleen (Jery) Burgoa of Fishers, Indiana, Two brothers, Blair (Joann) Manwaring of Rexburg, and Var (Florence) Manwaring of Rexburg. 28 Grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, two sisters, and a great grandson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at the Rigby 12th Ward Chapel (4021 East 300 North) at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Brett Olaveson conducting. The family will meet with friends on Friday night at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel (101 West Main Street) from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. and prior to the services on Saturday at the church from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow the services at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
