Vera Welch, age 84, of Rigby, died Thursday, June 12, 2008 at her home.
She was born August 5, 1923, in Farmington, Utah, a daughter of Arnold Miller Steed and Hattie Hayes Steed.
She attended schools in Farmington and graduated from Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah. On June 10, 1943, she married Claude Wilbur Welch in San Diego, California; their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
Vera was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Relief Society, Primary, YW, MIA and Sunday School, and also served in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple for twenty-three years. She worked at Sweets Candy Factory in Salt Lake City and at Burndines Department Store in Miami, Florida.
She enjoyed family history, knitting, sewing and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Claude, two daughters, Claudia (Norman) Rich of Lewiston, Idaho, and Holly (Scott) Hancock of Rigby, Idaho, ten grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 16, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garfield L.D.S Chapel at 71 North 3700 East, Rigby, Idaho, with Bp. Kevin Ringle officiating, the family will receive friends Sunday evening 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and Monday 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family expresses appreciation to Creekside Home Health and Hospice, and to the Rigby Quick Response Unit.
