Vergil LeRoy Mangum, also known as Crazy Horse, 79, of Terreton passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at his home surrounded by family.
Verg was born December 2, 1937 in Driggs, Idaho a son of Cecil Rhodes Mangum and Edith Fenton Mangum. He was raised and attended school in Driggs.
Verg married Sandra Muir and to this union they had five children, Larry, Jill, Karen, Lee and Kris. They later divorced. He married Toni Munns on June 2, 1976 in Archer, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on February 28, 1987.
Verg worked for Ricks College driving bus, and built a feed lot with Robert Huskinson in Terreton. He also worked at Owsley Canal Company, Terreton Tractor and Simmons Equipment driving truck. He was the Rodeo Chairman for the Mud Lake Rodeo for nine years. He bought a farm in Terreton and enjoyed going to Kilgore where he owned pasture ground with his wife and father in-law, Jim Munns.
He is survived by his wife Toni of Terreton and children Larry (Mary Jane) Mangum of Donnelly, Idaho, Jill Mangum of Idaho Falls, Karen Jacobson of Sugar City, Lee (Kathy) Mangum of Rexburg, and Kris (Jeff) Roberts of Rexburg, a sister Mary Ellen (Lee) Graham of Washington, Utah, 15 grandchildren and 25.5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald, Marion and Dwaine and a grandson, Jeffrey Mangum.
Funeral services will be held Saturday January 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Terreton LDS Stake Center. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.at Eckersell Memorial Chapel 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho and on Saturday at the Terreton Stake Center from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
