Verl Keith Mcmurtrey

Verl Keith McMurtrey, 83 of Rigby, died Saturday, August 4, 2012 at his home. He was born December 14, 1928, in Antelope Flats to Horace McMurtrey and Cora Fox McMurtrey. He attended schools in Antelope Flats and Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School. On July 6, 1973, he married Bonnie Ashbocker in Ririe. He worked for Union Pacific Rail Road, Idaho Fresh Pack and for EG&G until his retirement. Verl enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. He also coached the young men’s church baseball team in Menan. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie McMurtrey, of Rigby, daughters, Brenda (Richard) Ohman, of Idaho Falls, Patsy Duncan, Melissa McMurtrey, Dorothy (Ed) Watson, Marielle (Cameron Gould) Renard, son, Mike (Debra) Renard, all of Rigby, sister, Hazel (Larry) Jensen, of Blackfoot, brother, Jim McMurtrey, of Chester, 16 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, 5 brothers and 1 grandson. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 8th, 2012 at the Clark Ward LDS Chapel, with Bishop Kent Rolfe, conducting. Services are under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
