Verla Toomer Clement, 96 of Last Chance, formerly of Rigby, died Saturday, December 20, 2014 in Moreno Valley, California.
She was born March 12, 1918 in Montpelier, Idaho to William P. Toomer and Mabel Hymas Toomer. On November 15, 1949 she married Hollis D. Clement in Rigby, Idaho; they were blessed with 2 children, Cheryl Ann and Denis “Duff” Clement.
Verla was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she served in many capacities including Primary President and Mutual President. She was a ESA Sorority Member and served as Chapter and State President. She active in the community and was the Co-Founder and President of the Island Park Targhee Women’s Club, was a member and President of the Island Park Women’s Golf Club, was a member and President of Hemet, California Echo Hills Golf Club and was also a member of the Hemet Art Guild.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Ann (Gary) Parker of Riverside, California, son, Denis “Duff” (Marvene) Clement of Grand Terrace, California, brother, Bill (Colleen) Toomer of Richfield, Utah, 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 4 brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2014 at the Red Brick LDS Chapel located at 401 W. 1st South, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
