Verle Francis Johnson; 81, of Idaho Falls, Idaho died Saturday, December 28, 2002 at his home
in Idaho Falls.
Verle was born at Lewisville, Idaho on May 31, 1921, the son of Francis Sylvester Johnson and
Ella Eliza Harris Johnson. He was a graduate of Ucon High School. He was an active member
of the LDS Church and served as a missionary in Sweden. He was a High Priest in the Idaho
Falls LDS 7th Ward and had served as a Financial Clerk, a Sunday School Super Intendant and
teacher, and as a High Priest Group Leader.
He worked as the laundry manager at the LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls until its closure. He then
worked at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center until his retirement.
He married Loretta Rogers Dodge on June 1, 1960 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was the
best sweetheart.
He is survived by his wife Loretta Johnson of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Two daughters; Rosann
(Raymond) Havey of Ogden, Utah and Linda (Ronald) Chase of Ririe, Idaho. Two sons; Frank
Earl (Sharon) Dodge of Pocatello, Idaho and Verle Francis (Robyn) Johnson Jr. of Menan, Idaho.
Three sisters; Ella May Berrett of Roberts, Idaho, Barbara Gillick of Pontiac Illinois and Colleen
(Jim) Babcock of Moore, Idaho. Four brothers; Russell (Letha) Johnson of Robert, Idaho,
Wayne (Jean) Johnson of Sunset, Utah, Delbert (Lunetta)Johnson of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Lew
(Dona) Johnson of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Twenty-one grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Marvin and Stanley Johnson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at the Idaho Falls LDS 7th Ward
Chapel next to the Idaho Falls LDS Temple at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop David Holland officiating.
The family will meet with friends prior to services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Idaho
Falls LDS 7th Ward Chapel. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery in Ucon, Idaho under the
direction of Eckersell Funeral Home.
