Verna Ruth Hatch

Verna Ruth Hatch, age 83, of Rigby, quietly passed away from natural causes Sunday, August 5, 2018 at her son’s home in Rigby. Verna was born October 11, 1934 in Porterville, Utah to Harvey Edgar and Ruth Lucille Anderson Florence. She spent her early childhood living in a sheep herder’s wagon with her family in Hardsgravel, Porterville, Utah.  She went to school in Morgan, Utah and graduated from Morgan High School. After graduation she married Bud W. Lee on August 26, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They raised one daughter, Debra and three sons, Jeff, Blaine and Brian. They later divorced in 1973.
Verna met Verl Robinson Hatch in Utah and were later married on March 27, 1974 in Layton, Utah and then had one son, Duane. On September 13, 1980, they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. In December of 1976, they moved to Rigby, Idaho where they resided for the rest of their lives.  Verl had four boys from a previous marriage; David, Dan, Jon and Rick.
Verna was passionate about genealogy. She spent years researching, collecting and teaching genealogy.  She had many talents and a lot of energy.  She would sew beautiful quilts for the whole family. She made many clothes, jackets and toys for everyone at Christmas.  She loved to bottle fruits and vegetables and cooked wonderful meals.  She did so many things for others and she loved to serve.  She also enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, fishing, sewing and teaching genealogy at Ricks College.  Verna was a tireless, loving mother that always provided and cared for her family.
Verna was a devoted member of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She loved the gospel and served in many different ways.  Verna strived to live her life in accordance with the gospel.  She returned home to her Heavenly Father’s loving arms with honor.
She is survived by her daughter Debra Sego, sons: Jeff (Leny) Lee, Blaine Lee and Duane (Cathy) Hatch, stepsons: David (Mickey) Hatch, Dan (Sandy) Hatch, Jon Hatch and Rick Hatch.   Brothers:  Bruce Florence, Bill Florence, sisters: Bonnie Ludwig, Vicki Jo James and Tony Saleen; seventeen grand children; twenty one great-grand children and one great-great-grand child.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband Verl Hatch; son Brian Lee; brothers H. Dee Florence, Monte Florence; sister Joan Singleton; one grandchild; two great grand children and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2018 in the Rigby East State Center. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services on Friday. All services will be held at the Rigby East Stake Center, 641 East 1 ^st South, Rigby, Idaho.  Internment will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
