Vernon R. Drake

Vernon R. Drake, 87, of Roberts, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. He was born September 8, 1919 at Annis, Idaho, a son to Oscar Burton Drake and Alice Orel Walker Drake. He attended school at Annis. He Joined the U. S. Navy serving during World War II on the Battleship U.S.S. Idaho. He was a Chief A. P., flying fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. He retired after 22 years in the Navy. He is a member of the Silver Eagles. Following retirement he was a helicopter instructor in Nevada, Idaho and Florida. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by three sons: Richard (Patricia) Drake of Peoria, Illinois, Kerry Drake of Pensacola, Florida, and Dennis Drake of Las Vegas, Nevada, two sisters: Carma (Jack) Edelmayer and Shirley Ann (Del Ray) Holm both of Roberts, four grandchildren David Drake of Dunlap, Illinois, Travis Drake, Tyler Drake and Mindy Drake of LasVegas, Nevada and two great grandchildren Collin Drake of Dunlap, Illinois and Keith Drake of Las Vegas, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers. Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 5, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
