Vernon Fred Jensen Sr., age 86 of Rigby, passed away at his home Tuesday, February 28th 2017, surrounded by family.
Vernon was born January 28th, 1931 in Menan, Idaho to Conrad Jensen and Elsa Violet Rottweiler Jensen. He had seven siblings, Blaine, Dee, Don, Bob, Bernice, Carma and Doris. He attended schools in Kilgore, Idaho and Dillon, Montana.
Vernon met Donna Elaine Williams at a dance in Spencer, Idaho on May 19th, 1952. They were married August 3, 1952 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They were together for 64 1/2 years. They are the parents of Fred, Shawna and Vern. They raised three grandsons, Brandon, Michael and Derrick.
Vernon was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.He ranched and worked in Dillon, Montana, Spencer, Hamer and Dubois Idaho. He was a hard worker and took pride in his work. He loved his family and would do anything for them.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Donna E. Jensen, of Rigby, Idaho; daughter, Shawna (Travis) Madsen, of Sweet, Idaho; sons, Fred W. (Liz) Jensen, of Sugar City, Idaho, Vernon Fred Jensen Jr., of Peoria, Arizona; sisters, Carma (Lorin) Butterfield, Doris McFarland, Bernice Cherry, all of Rigby, Idaho; brother, Don Jensen, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; grandchildren, Michael (Shaunna) Jensen, Derrick (Hayley) Jensen, Megan (Cory) Walker, Taylor (David) Hansen, Monica Madsen, Sydney (Myles) Tarran, Devon Jensen, Keisha (Lindell) Kemet, Ashely (Jason) Wells, Mackenzie Jensen and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Blaine, Dee, Bob and a grandson, Brandon Jensen.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Hands of Hope Hospice and to Bill and Connie Jo Woods for their kindness and care.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the LDS Chapel located 401 West 1st South, Rigby (the red brick church); with Bishop Adam Hall conducting. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7:00 p.m. Friday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., Saturday, prior to services at the Church. Burial will be in the West Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
