Victor Dean Johnson

Victor Dean Johnson passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018, peacefully with his loving family all getting to say their goodbyes and his beloved dogs, Riley, Mondo and Harley close by. A special thank you to Solace Hospice for allowing Dean to pass in comfort and at home as he wished. Dean was born September 27, 1934 in Archer, Madison County, Idaho to Jarvis Glen Johnson and Clara Edna Hall Johnson. He attended school in Archer and Rigby. He was a quiet young man with many friends and was respected greatly. When he was 16 he wanted to buy a car so he herded sheep in Terreton and in Island Park to buy it. He was always a hard worker and would help anyone at any time. In 1954 he met a determined young lady, Shirley LaRue Palmer. They fell in love land were married October 15, 1954 in the Idaho Falls Temple. To this union was born three wonderful sons; Douglas Dean, Dirk Glen and Bryce L. Dean worked many places as a carpenter. He and his dad built one of the first cabins in Island Park. From there he built homes in Idaho Falls, Rigby, Montana, North Dakota, Nevada and Utah. He helped remodel a stake center in Burley and Church Houses in several other places. He also remodeled officers’ cabins on an army base in Tooele, Utah. He could always find work being a great carpenter and was a good husband, father and provider till the day he died. Dean and Shirley had a wonderful marriage. After they retired they were always together and Dean took care of everything. They loved each other deeply. In their declining years Bryce took care of them every night for fifteen years. Once Dean and Shirley couldn’t leave the house anymore, Dean enjoyed bantering with Uncle Wendell everyday on the phone, visits from his friends “Red”, The “Doctor”, and had a special bond with Shirley’s sisters and brother-in-law. Dean is survived by his wife of 64 years, His sons: Douglas (Tina) Johnson, Dirk Johnson, and Bryce (Michelle) Johnson, nine grandchildren: Brooke (Fred) Bradfield, Tyrell (Tonya) Johnson, Tate, Zachary, Brycin, Dawn Johnson, Eric Johnson, Ryan (Torrie) Johnson, four step-grandchildren: Sherrie, Jeff, Cory and Brianna, nine great-grandchildren: A.J., Mason and Charley Bradfield, Addison and Gunner Johnson, Jasmine and Katylynn Johnson, Colby and Baylee. Dean is preceded in death by his parents, Jarvis Glen Johnson, Clara Edna Robinson, his brother Harold Johnson, Sister Norma Ricket and three half-sisters. One beloved granddaughter Meagan Johnson and wonderful grandson Jared Maupin. The family will announce a gathering at a later date for family and friends.
