Vila Pearl Hawkins, age 84, of Rigby, passed away at Rexburg Nursing Center, Tuesday, March 11, 2008. She was born May 12, 1923, at Idaho Falls, a daughter of Oliver Perry Lemmon and Vonda Mae Pope Lemmon. She was raised in Rigby and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. September 10, 1941, she married Jack Baxter Hawkins in Preston, Idaho. Their Marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in Primary, Young Women’s and was Compassionate Service Leader in the Relief Society. She also worked as a volunteer in the Rigby Library.
She enjoyed reading, camping, dancing and serving her family.
She was survived by two daughters; Karren (Stan) Borowski of Rigby, Jacque (Roger) Munns of Waldorf, Maryland, two sons; Phillip Vern (Norma Jean) Hawkins of Boise, Bill G. (Peggy) Hawkins of Rexburg, a sister Gaye Johnson of Idaho Falls, twenty-eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, a son Perry, a brother Bob and a granddaughter, Vicki.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2008 at the Rigby Stake Center. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Friday, prior to services at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
