Violet May Schwarze

September 19, 1929 — April 17, 2018

Violet May Schwarze 88, of Idaho Falls, ID, passed away April 17, 2018 after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Violet May Barber (Schwarze) was born September 19, 1929 in Plymouth, England to Charles Henry Barber and Ellen Maud Barber (Bygraves). Violet moved to the United States in 1949 and gained her United States Naturalization Citizenship in 1968. Violet had many notable jobs through the years including the lunch counter at Newberrys, Johnathans and Miss KGs. Vi had a real sense for fashion and worked at Lamonts for 20+ years up till her retirement. Vi was independent, very active and loved being out and meeting new people. She would often spend time on the weekend at the farmers market admiring and buying the fresh goods, spending mornings at McDonalds coffee with friends, enjoying her time with God at the Catholic Church, and shopping, she loved shopping. In her earlier years Vi spent time on the farm and spoke frequently of the many chickens she raised and the wonderful Schwarze family. Violet loved the holiday and made them very special. With big orange boxes of clothes for Christmas for the Grandkids, Easter dinner with an egg hunt, Fourth of July Parade and BBQ’s and paying her respects at Memorial Day were just a few examples of her love for different holidays. Vi beamed with pride when she spoke of the accomplishments of her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Vi is survived by her children, Linda (Jerry) Simonson of Rigby, ID, Nancy (RoyDeJourdan) Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID, Barbara (Tim)Nielson of Mesa Arizona, Debbie (Mark) Balich of Roseville California, Sam Schwarze Gillette, Wyoming; her 5 grandkids Michele, Stacey, Jennifer, ReBecca and Brandon; and 9 great grandkids Tanner, Dawson, Hailey, Mikayla, Andrew, Dallin, Linda Jean, Caden and Hannah. Violet May was preceded in death by her parents, 5 siblings, Granddaughter Jeri Lyn Simonson and longtime partner Dr. Cliff Patterson. A graveside service for Violet May Schwarze will be held on April 30, 2018 at Rosehill Cemetery at 11:00 am. The family would like to thank One Source Hospice and Lincoln Court Retirement Community for their loving, comforting and kind care of Vi in her final days. The family would request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to One Source Hospice care in honor of Violet May Schwarze.
