Virgil Miller Hancock, age 89, of Rigby died at his home Friday, December 28, 2007.
He was born July 1, 1918, at Garfield, a son of Daniel Riley Hancock and Lola May Miller Hancock. He attended schools in Garfield and Ucon graduating from Ucon High School. November 27, 1940 he married Ruby Barber in the Logan LDS Temple, she passed away in 1993. He married Margaret May Arrowood, February 8, 1997; their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He Owned and operated a Dairy Farm on the Jefferson-Bonneville County Line for over fifty years.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in the Eastern Canadian Mission as well as a Stake Mission to Swan Valley. Virgil enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, story telling and especially loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Margaret of Rigby, daughters; Julie Ann (Robert) Larsen of Pocatello, Marguerite (Don) Brown of Idaho Falls, Orillia (James) Bazil of Rigby, Cindy (Brad) Schaat of Rigby, sons; J.D (Ann) Hancock, of Rexburg, Ray B. (Marjorie) Hancock of Rexburg, Bart (Lorna) Hancock of Ucon, Scott (Holly) Hancock of Rigby, Kevin (Sherri) Hancock of Elkhorn, NE, sister; Izetta (Gale) Bramwell of Rigby, brother; Dale Hancock of Pocatello forty-two grandchildren and seventy-seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at the Garfield 1st Ward LDS Chapel, with Bishop Kent L. Bradley, officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday January 1, 2007 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the Church. Burial will be in the Grant Central Cemetery.
