Virginia Ellen Groth was born January 19, 1935. On March 1, 2025 She passed peacefully in her sleep in the home of her only daughter, surrounded by loved ones, in Gillette, WY. Born as Virginia Ellen Ryan to David Edgar Ryan and Myrtle Irwina McManis in Manhattan, Kansas. In the Spring of 1947 they moved to San Francisco, California, where she would go on to graduate high school.
August 28, 1955 would bring her graduation from Kaiser Nursing School. The very next day she moved to Ririe, Idaho preparing to marry William “Bill” Lloyd Groth the next day August 30, 1955, and they would be sealed in Idaho Falls Temple. The newly weds would make their home in Ririe, Idaho until November 1959, when they would purchase their own home in Lewisville, Idaho.
August 13, 1971 Bill passed away in a logging accident, leaving Virginia to raise their seven children alone. Working at East Idaho Regional Medical Center and Riverview Hospital for many years, as a Registered Nurse until retirement.
Virginia was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Bill, sons Ray and J.R, parents David and Irwinna Ryan, in-laws John and Lela Groth, brother Bill Ryan, sisters Anna Lou Langren, and granddaughter Tara Holverson.
Virginia is survived by children Fred Groth of Rigby, Idaho, Eddie (Sara) Groth of Eureka, Nevada, Dana (Ted) Stoltenberg of Gillette, Wyoming, Donnie (Cassandra) Groth of Lewisville, Idaho Brett Groth of Seattle, Washington, and sister Rosalie Barber of Missouri, and 14 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Services will be held March 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church in Lewisville, Idaho. Prior to services family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation from 9:30 to 10:45. Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow.
