Virginia May Pitman

Virginia May Pitman, 88, of Rigby, died Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. She was born June 12, 1923, in Bear Creek Montana to Tharrel Hugh Young and Hazel Newby Young. She was raised and attended schools in Annis and graduated from Midway High School. On October 7, 1944, she married William Glen Pitman in Dillon, Montana. To this union they added a daughter and two sons. She worked at Carson Nursing Home, and for Zetta Reed as a personal home nurse. Virginia is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed music and played the guitar and harmonica. She also enjoyed playing crokinole on the carrom board. She loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing and sage hen hunting with her husband. She is survived by her children, Diona (Richard) Johnson, of Ucon, Idaho, Marvin (Terry) Pitman, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Brent (Victoria) Pitman, of Port Orford, Oregon, sisters, Ila (David) Jennings, of Clark, Idaho, Jone (Larry) Vincent, of Idaho Falls, brothers, William Young, of Idaho Falls, Roy (Mary) Young, of Rigby, Rance (Roberta) Young, of Idaho Falls, 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Stephen Young. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 7, 2011 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
