Virginia (Ginny) Somerville, age 71 passed away following complications from surgery on February, 19th, 2026, in Rexburg, ID. Ginny was born in Oregon City, OR, to Charlie and Gay Solomon on February 26th, 1954. Ginny grew up in Oregon and Idaho, with a love of the outdoors, enjoying time in the ocean and mountains.
Ginny married Donald Kington on December 1, 1978. Together they raised six children. They divorced in 1988.
Ginny enrolled in the registered nursing program at Ricks College, graduating in 1991. She spent her life in service. She had a long and fulfilling career as a nurse, receiving many accolades for her excellence and service.
Ginny was a devout, life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had a deep love for the Gospel and her Savior. She held many callings, her favorite was teaching Relief Society. She exemplified the Savior in her life with her unconditional love and acceptance of people and the service she rendered to anyone in need. Ginny had a love of service that she taught to her children and grandchildren, teaching by example.
Ginny had a love of life. She loved the outdoors, spending her time camping, swimming, and gardening. Ginny loved to read, crochet and teach. She loved spending time with her family. She remained close to each of her children, grandchildren and siblings.
Ginny married David Somerville, an old childhood friend, on August 9th, 2008. Together they traveled the United States. They had adventures living in Alaska and North Dakota, before settling in Challis, ID when Ginny retired. They lived there for many years enjoying the mountains, wildlife and her garden.
Ginny is survived by her husband David Somerville; six children: Mandy (Tony) Bridgeforth of Bear, DE; Heath (Melissa) Kington of Wells, NV; Amos (Heidi) Kington of Harker Heights, TX; Holly (Don) Harris of Carlin, NV; Gina Kington of Phoenix, AZ; Samuel (Ariel) Kington of Kilgore, TX; and 21 grandchildren. She is survived by her 5 siblings David (Peggy) Solomon of Rigby, ID; Julie Parker of Lewisville, ID; Jeanette Solomon of Rexburg, ID; Charles (Gayle) Solomon of Naples, ID; Timothy (Beverly) of Idaho Falls, ID.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Gay Solomon and her grandson Chase.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday February 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 170 West 1st South, Rexburg, Idaho. A viewing will be held on Wednesday February 25, 2026, from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby Idaho, and prior to the funeral on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 at the church. Burial will follow the service.
