Virginia Lu “Granny” Taylor, 86, of Rigby, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Monday, August 1, 2011, at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg.
She was born May 25, 1925, in St. Anthony, to Walter Curtis Mosier and Mary Melinda Harshbarger Mosier. She was raised and attended schools in St. Anthony, and graduated from South Fremont High School. She then worked as a secretary at the high school. On January 3, 1948, she married Jack Wilson Taylor in Driggs; to this union, they added one daughter. She also worked at the Post Office in Hamer and drove school bus for Jefferson County.
Virginia liked to read, solving crossword puzzles, chocolate, watching Lawrence Welk, collecting old bottles, crocheting and needle point, and doing genealogy. Virginia was so proud of her family and loved spending time with them. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherri (Morris) Morgan, of Rigby, grandchildren, Jennifer (Daniel) Hernandez, of St. Anthony, Holly Harrison, of Iona, Crystal (Charlie) Harrison, of Ucon, Brent (Melissa) Taylor of Rigby, Mark (Ruby) Taylor, of Iona, 18 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A private graveside service will be held at the Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2011 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby.
