Von Reed Jenkins, 72, of Rigby, died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. Reed was born April 23, 1934 at Wilford, Idaho a son of Wilford W. Jenkins and Winnie D. Law Jenkins. He was raised in Twin Groves, ID just outside of St. Anthony attending elementary school in St. Anthony until 5th grade The family moved to Idaho Falls and he attended Ucon schools and graduated from Bonneville High School. He served with the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska. He started college in Alaska and then attended Ricks College. He served a mission for the LDS Church in California. After his mission he attended Utah State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He married Patsy Randall July 22, 1959 in the Idaho Falls Temple. He taught school in St. Anthony, Rigby, Idaho Falls O.E. Bell Jr. High, Columbia High School in Oregon, Bonneville High School and Eastern Idaho Technical College. Following his teaching he worked as a contractor in the Rigby area. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Scout Master, in the Sunday School Presidency, on the Stake High Council, High Priest Group Leader, Elders Quorum President, Ward Mission Leader and Bishop. He also served as a worker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and a mission with his wife to Nauvoo, Illinois. He had been a member of the Rotary Club. He enjoyed building and reading. Survivors include: his wife Patsy Jenkins of Rigby, 2 daughters: Holly Noreen (Shaun) Sedrick of Springdale, Arkansas, Verena Lee (Bryce) Poole of Peoria, Arizona, 4 sons: Daniel Alan (Maureen) Jenkins of Coltman, Idaho, Nikolas Dean (Tiffiny) Jenkins of Garfield, Idaho, Ivan David (Annette) Jenkins of Rigby, Benjamin Reed (Karen) Jenkins of Richmond, Washington, 5 sisters: Marie (Wayne) Richey of Salem, Idaho, Arla (Wayne) Butler of Shelley, Idaho, Lois (Louis) Faulk of American Fork, Utah, Yvonne Jenkins of Idaho Falls, Georgia Jenkins of Oregon, and 21 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: Dwaine, Jay Doyle, Grant. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 24, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rigby East Stake Center, 4021 East 300 North, with Bishop J. Marden Sievers of the Rigby 8th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
