Vonda Gae Munns

Vonda Gae Munns died peacefully October 22, 2018 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born Feb 25 1938 in Richfield, Utah to Herbert and Regina Torgerson. She was the oldest of ten children. She moved to Lyman, Idaho with her family when she was twelve years old. While helping cook dinner for a harvest crew she met Harry Munns. They were married November 23, 1955 and were blessed with 4 children. She was a wonder wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Vonda was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she served as a Young Women’s leader, Stake Relief Society Councilor, Relief Society President, Primary and Nursery teacher. She was very compassionate, possessing a love for and a special way with children.

Cooking was one of her many talents. She made sure no one left her home hungry. One of her specialties was her homemade rolls. She was Harry’s most dependable support, from driving tractor to taking him a meal wherever he was in the field. His comfort was her number one priority. She loved to read, embroidery, paint and garden, raising two gardens for many years. Dancing was another one of her talents serving as dance directors with Harry in the Lyman Ward.

Her focus was seeing to her children’s needs, teaching them to work and celebrating their accomplishments. This only increased as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren arrived. She always made sure no one left her home without eating some of her good cooking, or at least a treat.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherri (Kevin) Murray, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Jana (Lynn) Nelson, of Archer, sons, Russell (Linda) Munns, of Archer, Paul (Tammy) Munns, of Salem, Utah, sisters, Kathy (Chris) Stohl, of Idaho Falls, Kay (Hal) Buster, of St. Anthony, brothers, Ron (Linda) Torgerson, Ken (Renay) Torgerson, both of Hamer, Robert (Karen) Torgerson, of Idaho Falls, Wayne (Jill) Torgerson of Lewisville, Steve (Dana) Torgerson of Nampa, Rex (Holly) Torgerson of Roy, Washington,19 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Munns, parents, Herbert and Regina Torgerson, sister, Donna, and a great-grandson, Keagan Murray.

Vonda will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was greatly loved by her family and friends and they look forward to the day they will meet again.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Lyman 1 ^st Ward Chapel, 1952 W. 6000 S., Rexburg, Idaho. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 Friday and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services, both at the church. Burial will be in the Sutton cemetery.
