W. May Carpenter, age 70, of Ririe, died at her home Friday, February 24, 2006 from cancer. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health.
May was born December 1, 1935 at Poplar Idaho a daughter to Eugene Parley Byington and Irene Wanda Hunsaker Byington. She was raised in the Ririe area where she attended Ririe Elementary and Ririe High School. On December 26, 1952 she married William Seth Carpenter in Ririe. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple August 29, 1963. In 1956 they moved to Menan and then in 1977 moved back to Ririe
Throughout her life she worked as a Bus Driver, Truck Driver, Farm Worker, and in the school lunch program. She was a nominee for 8 who make a difference. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Sports Director, Young Women Teacher and in Genealogy Extraction. She enjoyed Bowling, Golf and Genealogy.
Survivors include three daughters: Kathryn Anderson of Idaho Falls, Terri (Chuck) Dugan of Bellvue, Washington, Lauri Carpenter of Ririe, two sons Harold Carpenter of Sandpoint, Idaho, Frank (Shirley) Carpenter of Ririe, four sisters: Barbara (Amle) Landon , Delores (Gary) Monroe, Bonnie Chapple, Ramona (Leston) Woods, Three brothers: Dale Byington, Paul (Jean) Byington, Harold (Debbie) Byington, 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Seth Carpenter, Parents Eugene and Wanda Byington, Daughter Mary Lynn and a brother Donald Byington.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ririe 2nd. Ward LDS Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and for one hour prior to
Services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
