Wallace Emil Erickson

Wallace Emil Erickson, passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada, Saturday, January 30, 2016. He was born on June 1, 1928 in Pocatello, Idaho to Emil S.V. and Sofia Elizabeth Wallin Erickson. He was the 7th child in a family of eight children. He spent his early childhood in Pocatello, either at his parents’ home or at his grandparents homestead on Pocatello Creek. In 1930 the family moved to the farm in Moreland because of the infirmity of his father. Wally graduated from Moreland High School in 1946. He worked for a time for FMC in Pocatello and then returned to Moreland and farmed for many years. He owned and operated Erickson Metal Works and constructed and reconditioned Milestone Potato Equipment. In 1989 he moved to Rigby, Idaho and built a new home on 12 acres and fished with friends and enjoyed riding his horses in the Jefferson Posse. He was an active member of the LDS Church. He served in many capacities. His favorites were as a Temple Officiator and as a Missionary in the Nauvoo Illinois Mission. He was blessed with a beautiful tenor voice and enjoyed singing and performing. He married Diane DeGregory on November 18, 1953. They have celebrated 62 years of marriage. He is preceded in death by his parents Emil and Elizabeth, his daughter Peggy (Kyle) Speas, his sisters, Orla (James) Egbert and Verna (Marvin) Lewis, his brothers Glen, Allen, Roy and John. He is survived by his wife Diane, sister Gladys Michaelson of Montpelier, Idaho and son Shaun (Ivana) Erickson of Eureka, Utah, daughters Debra (Robert) Howell of Austin, Texas, Pamela (David) Cutler of South Jordan, Utah, 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 13th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Rigby South LDS Stake Center, 106 North 3800 East, Rigby, Idaho. The family will visit with friends Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho and on Saturday from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the stake Center. Burial will be in the Rest Lawn Cemetery, Pocatello, Idaho.
