Eckersell Funeral Home 101 West Main Rigby, Idaho 83442 208-745-6604 Walter Carl Hendrickson; age 88, of Grant, Idaho and formerly of Wallace, Idaho died Monday, May 31, 2004 at his home. Walt was born April 22, 1916 at Burke, Idaho the son of John Eric and Bertha Lundgren Hendrickson. He attended schools in Wallace, Idaho and graduated from Wallace High School. He later attended the University of Idaho. Walter joined the Army in 1941 and fought in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Elks Lodge and participated at the Wallace Senior Citizens Center. He worked as an electrician for the Day Mines in Wallace. He retired after 38 years of service. After his retirement, he worked for Herb and Ruth Zanetti at their Mountain Goat Lease Mine. Walt was an avid reader with a very inquisitive mind and was a wonderful friend to those who knew him. He is survived by a niece, Honore’ (Kevin) Storme of Grant, Idaho and their children Samantha and Bailey Storme, and a nephew, Luke (Jennifer) Hendrickson of Reno, Nevada and their children, Tayler and Shane. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, George, Hendrickson, Axel Hendrickson and Elmer Hendrickson with his wife Josephine Hendrickson. Arrangements are under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby, Idaho.
