Wanda Allen Hanson

Wanda A Hanson, 89, of Annis, Idaho died Saturday, August 16, 2003 at the Life Care Center of Idaho Falls. She was born April 3, 1914, in Sunnydell, Idaho along with her twin brother Wando, to the union of Amos Allen and Anna Agusta Eliason Allen. She graduated from the eighth grade in Sunnydell. While growing up during the depression she knew hard work and sacrifice. On October 26, 1935, she married Robert Browning Hanson in Annis. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple in September 1970. Wanda lived in Annis until February 2002. She has resided at the Idaho Falls Life Care Center since that time. Bob her husband died May 19, 1968. Wanda at age 54 entered the workplace after the death of her husband working in Menan, sorting potatoes, and retiring at the age of 70. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed gardening and her flowers, traveling to Indiana each summer to spend time with her only daughter Ilona. Her last trip there was three years ago. Wanda was an avid Temple goer with her special interest groups. She had the gift of gab and always wore a smile. She enjoyed participating with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, fishing and huckleberrying with her close friends. Quilting was a joy to her. She loved her grandchildren. She is survived by her children Norman D. (Rae) Hanson of Pocatello, Idaho, Ilona L. (Rien) Ouwerkerk of Columbus, Indiana, Gaylon R. (Clarene) Hanson of Annis, Idaho and Terrall L. (Jeanette) Hanson of Las Vegas, Nevada. 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and 5 sisters and 1 granddaughter. Bob and Wanda’s grave marker describes their life (hardwork). Happiness is being satisfied with what I’ve got and what I haven’t got. Funeral services will be at the Eckersell Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Kevin Searle officiating. The family will meet with friends on Tuesday, August 19, 2003 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and prior to the services from 9:30 a.m until 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow the services at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery overlooking her family home of 68 years under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family expresses their appreciation to the staff at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls for the excellent care given to Wanda.
