Wanda Thorpe, Age 88, of Roberts died Saturday, November 10, 2007 at East Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. She was born August 4, 1919 at Bedford, Wyoming, a daughter of Gilbert Ivie, and Geneva Dana Ivie. She was raised and attended schools in Thayne and Etna, Wyoming. June 7, 1938 she married John Wyatt Thorpe in Idaho Falls; their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She retired at the age of 83, while working at Broulim’s Supermarket in Roberts. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Relief Society, Sunday school, and Primary and as Ward Liberian. Wanda was active in the Roberts Senior Citizens Center, enjoyed crafts, gardening, crocheting, canning and cooking.
She is survived by two daughters; LaDean (Blair) Hilton of Rexburg, Wanda (Gerald) Poitra, of Roberts, a son; Rex I. (Cheryl) Thorpe of Roberts, eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, a son, Seth Ivy Thorpe, one grand daughter and one grandson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Roberts 1st ward Chapel, Bishop Dennis Snarr, officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the Church. Burial will be in the Roberts Cemetery.
