Warren Richard “Dick” Merrill, 66, of Menan, died November 1, 2010 from complications following heart surgery.
He was born October 27, 1944, to Sollymon Sylvenus Merrill and Ruth Marine Thorngren Merrill. He was the third of nine children. He was raised in the Menan area and graduated from Rigby High School in 1963. Following graduation, he enlisted in the USAF and served for 4 years. In 1969, he fell in love and married Judy Barney of Grant. He was employed for Utah Power and Light and Light for 26 years as a lineman and retired in 2001.
Warren loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and working in his yard. It has often been said that Warren was very quiet and was happiest when left alone. Those who knew him well, however, experienced his big heart and gentle soul. His family loves him and will miss him very much.
He is survived by his wife Judy Merrill, of Menan (62). Children: Darby Merrill, of Saint Anthony (39), Jason (Michelle) Merrill of Grant (37), and Michelle (Peter) Fike of Chambersburg, PA (35). Grandchildren: Natalie Merrill (13), Justin Merrill (11), and Madisen Merrill (9). Siblings: Norman (Audrey) Merrill of Spokane, WA (70), Marge (Wayne) Killian of Idaho Falls (68), Ronald (Hellen) Merrill of Menan (64), Twila Lahm of Idaho Falls (61), Mike (Sheila) Merrill of Baker City, OR (58), Kent (Diane) Merrill of Rigby (55), Blair (Phyllis) Merrill of Idaho Falls (53), and Sally (Dave) Sumner of Idaho Falls (47).
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 5, 2010, at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby.
