Wayne Freeman, 89, of Rigby passed away at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Monday, June 2, 2008.
He was born November 1, 1918 in Brigham City, Utah, a son of Harry Freeman and Effie May Tingey Freeman. He attended schools in Brigham City. After graduating from high school he joined the US Army and served in the Infantry during WWII.
June 7, 1945 he married Ileen Rhodes in the Salt Lake City L.D.S. Temple. During his life he worked as a mechanic at the GMC garage in Brigham City, as a welder at Hill Air Force Base, and for JC Penny when he moved to Idaho, as a inspector for Idaho Fresh Pac, and then in the baptistery in the Idaho Falls Temple for twenty years.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Second Counselor in the Bishopric Lewisville 2nd Ward. Wayne enjoyed family, gardening, fishing, hunting, camping and anything outdoors.
He is survived by his wife Ileen of Rigby, three daughters, Rosalie (Gary) Taylor, of Modesto, CA, Barbara (Phil) Hayman of Idaho Falls, and Donna Freman, of Idaho Falls, a son, Fred Stanley (Gwen) Freeman of Caldwell, ID a sister, Mae Moynier, of Price, UT, sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Carol Poole, a son, Darwin Freeman, a brother, Fred Freeman, three sisters, Elsie Knowles, Hazel Brimer, Ida Christensen, and a grandson, Leslie Scott.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Military Rites by Jefferson Veterans Team. The family will visit with friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
