Wayne A. Violette passed away unexpectedly at his home Sunday, April 13, 2014. He was born May 4, 1941, in Anaconda, Montana. He was the only child of Al and Evelyn Fjetland Violette.The family moved to Monteview, Idaho in 1944 where Wayne lived until he attended and graduated from Idaho State Trade and Technical College, majoring in electronics.
He moved to Las Vegas in 1962, after being hired by EG&G to work at the Nevada Test Site with underground nuclear testing. He later worked for Cental Telephone Company, which became Sprint, where he worked until his retirement in 2000.
He was a loving husband who cherished his wife Phyllis and the life they shared together for 31 years. They loved to take cruises and over the last eight years visited over 30 countries. He enjoyed photography and took an abundance of pictures on all their trips. After returning home from a cruise, he would turn all of his pictures into a movie.
His friends knew him as someone you could always count on. He had a generous spirit and readily shared his time, talent, and good humor with anyone who needed help.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis, and his three children from his former marriage to Kathryn “Kay” Polson: Juliet Violette of Everett, Washington; Benjamin Violette of Atlanta, Georgia; and Erik Violette of Everett, Washington, He is also survived by two grandchildren, Sarah and Kira Violette.
Services were held on Friday, April 18, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Tropicana LDS Church, 2275 E Tropicana. Graveside services will be at the West Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery in Terreton, Idaho, Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel.
