Wesley John Thomson, 73, of St. Anthony, Idaho, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022 at EIRMC in Idaho Falls, surrounded by his family.
Wes was born March 12, 1949 in St. Anthony, Idaho to John Thomas Thomson and Ann Elizabeth Rawson Thomson. Wes grew up mostly living with his grandparents in Dubois and in the Moody area. He learned his hard work ethic from his grandpa Thomson living on the dairy farm. This is also where he learned the importance of love and family. He loved his family with all his heart.
He graduated from Snake River High School in 1967. He met a green-eyed cutie through his cousin at The Star Café in September of 1967. Their first date was at the East Idaho State Fair; that first date led to a wonderful 54-year marriage. They welcomed 2 daughters to their little family, Billiejo in 1968 and Jackie in 1973. Their married life started in Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 1971 they moved back to St. Anthony and put down roots.
Wes was a jack of all trades, he could cut meat with pro’s and fix your lawnmower, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. His most satisfying job was working for Idaho Forest Industries at the Idaho Stud Mill. He was there for 20 years; till the day they shut the doors. After that he became a long-haul driver for Doug Andrus where he worked until he retired in 2013. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. Most Sundays we would get up, have breakfast then load up the fishing poles or pistols and venture out for the day. We always ended up on the desert or up around Island Park. Sunday drives were the best. He got back into riding horses again in the 80’s, spending weekends riding the hills with friends or hauling his daughters to High School Rodeos. His greatest happiness arrived when the grandkids came along. He loved passing on his love of the outdoors to them.
He is survived by his loving wife Roscoe (his nickname for her) Bonnie of St. Anthony, Daughters; Billiejo Thomson of Idaho Falls, and Jackie (Jeff) Chandler of Lovelock, Nevada. Stepmother Marge Thomson of Rexburg, Aunts Karen Thomson of Pingree, Irene Thomson of Rexburg, and Macel Thomson of Rigby, Sisters-in-law; Trena Moon of Teton City and Teresa Thomson of Paul, Idaho, Sisters; Jolene Jones of Everett, Washington, Verna (Tim) Taylor of Rexburg, and Millie (Clyde) Oram of Eureka, Nevada, Brothers; Les (Judy) Thomson of Idaho Falls, Bryce (Christine) Thomson of Idaho Falls, Calvin (Bonnie) Thomson of Twin Falls and Perry (Ana) Thomson of Idaho Falls, Grandchildren; Travis (Brittanie) Munns, of Idaho Falls, Justin (Cheyenne) Munns of Ignacio, Colorado, Jessica (Jason) Schmitt of Reno, Nevada, Jennifer Chandler of Reno Nevada, Julie Chandler of Lovelock Nevada, and Honorary Granddaughter Katie (Tom) Grewell of Townsen, Montana and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
