Wilford Edward Hokanson, died August 16, 2007 at the age of 98 in Ridgefield, WA.
He was born June 14, 1909 in Grover, WY as son of Olof Julyous Hokanson and Emma Joanna Welchman Hokanson. June 14, 1932 he married Afton Lucille Barzee in the Salt Lake LDS temple. He lived in Ammon and Pingree, Idaho where he farmed, then moved to Battle Ground where he lived for 20 years working for Arian’s Logging as a timber fell, the State Department of Natural Resources as a FireWarden and the Battle Ground School District as a custodian. He moved to Toquerville, Utah where he resided for 25 years. He also resided in Rigby, ID, and then returned to live with a daughter in Ridgefield for this last 6 years.
Wilford was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was never known to be idle, enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He especially loved to gather his family around the piano and listen to them sing.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Afton and a son Garth. He is survived by a sister, Wilda Swensen of Brigham City, UT and his 9 children: Darin (Diane) Hokanson of Woodland, WA, Lenaia Lords of Rigby, ID, Devon (Mary) Hokanson of Provo, UT, Rhona (Landis) Legg of Caldwell, ID, Vione (Jerry) Graham of Ridgefield, Yohlon Cooper of Washington, UT, Clint (Darla) Hokanson of Ridgefield WA and Erol (Karen) Hokanson of Battle Ground WA., and has posterity of 261.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will visit with friends Saturday, prior to services from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
