Willard C. Smith age 87, of Rigby died Friday, October 25, 2013, at his home.
Willard was born August 25, 1926, in Ririe, Idaho a son of Benjamin Franklin Smith and Sarah Emma Moore Smith. He was raised and attended school in Ririe. He joined the Navy at an early age in October of 1943. He married Phyllis Lavon Stacey on December 22, 1947, in Annis, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple on March 26, 1966. They were married for 65 years.
Willard was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was involved in the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He was an electrician by trade and was the owner of Smith Electric in Rigby.
Willard loved to fish, hunt and camp.
Willard is survived by his wife Phyllis Smith of Rigby, Daughters Carolyn (Dan) Elliott of Rigby, Gaye Lynne Smith of Idaho Falls, sons Boyd Smith and Stacey (Cami) Smith both of Idaho Falls, sisters Lola (Wayne) Broadbent, Fern (Dave) Chaffee both of Idaho Falls, brother Stanley Smith of Poplar, 7 grand children and 4 great grandchildren.
Willard was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery in Archer.
