William "Bill" Blair Allen Jr.

January 15, 1931 — August 31, 2025

William “Bill” Blair Jr., age 94, passed away on August 30, 2025, in Bosque Farms, New Mexico. He was born January 15, 1931, in Rigby, Idaho, to William Jack Blair Allen Sr. and Vergie Allice Eddie Allen.

Bill grew up in Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School before attending Ricks College. He went on to earn degrees in music, English, and drama, as well as a master’s degree in theater production from the University of Idaho. From 1955 to 1957, Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army as a bandsman with the 298th U.S. Army Concert and Marching Band in Berlin, Germany.

Education and arts were lifelong passions for Bill. He began his teaching career in Washtucna, Washington, before teaching at Richland High School for 23 years. He also performed with the Richland Players Theater, where his love of acting music and creativity flourished. A concert pianist with a quick wit, Bill was known for his incredible sense of humor, social nature and ability to connect with anyone. Former students remembered him fondly and kept in touch long after graduation.

Bill lived in Spokane and Richland, Washington, before moving to New Mexico in his later years. He enjoyed the finer things in life, especially his tradition of purchasing a new Cadillac nearly every year.

He is survived by his nephews, John E. Allen (Charlotte) and Michael P. Allen (Elizabeth). He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Hugh A. Allen, and many cherished friends.

Bill’s legacy of music, teaching, laughter and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him.
