William George Eames

William George Eames; 78, of Menan, Idaho died Monday, September 30, 2002 in Idaho Falls, Idaho at the hospital. William was born October 8, 1923 at Menan, Idaho, the son of John Wesley Eames and Leota Konkel Eames. He married Norma Ann Nygren at Lincoln, Nebraska on March 25, 1947. He was an especially devoted husband to his wife of fifty-five years, a father of six and a grandfather of eight. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was a bombadier and radar operator on B-24s and B-29s. During the Korean Conflict he was reactivated as part of the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was active in and served as chairman of Republican Party and had served on Governor Samueleson’s Welfare Committee. He attended the First Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He had served as chairman of the Menan Farm Bureau and as a chairman of the Jefferson County Farm Bureau. He was involved in the Cub Scout Board of Menan, Idaho, on the Sugar Beet Growers Association, and ASC Committeeman, Chairman and other offices of the Long Island Canal Company. He enjoyed woodworking, horticulture, bowling and crossword puzzles. He is survived by his wife Norma Eames of Menan, Idaho. His daughters Cheryl Ellen Eames and Mary Lee Eames of Long Beach, California. His sons William Mark (Cherie) Eames of Dallas, Texas, John E. Eames of Salt Lake City, Utah and Matthew C. (Cathie) Eames of Falls Church, Virginia. A brother Robert Eames of Menan, Idaho and his grandchildren Joshua Eames, Kayla Eames, Meghan Eames, Jordan Eames, Melina Eames, Hayley Eames, Emily Eames and Justin Eames. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Leann Eames and his sisters Iva Maloney, Betty Scott and Ruth Anderson. Memorial services will be held Friday, October 4, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. in the Eckersell Memorial Chapel. The family will meet with friends on Thursday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and again on Friday one hour prior to services.
